The story of Portakal began in the 1950s, when our grandfather, Mehmet Tabak, planted the first orange seeds on this land.
Over the years, the garden flourished beneath the shade of the citrus trees and gradually became one of our family's most treasured gathering places. Some of the citrus trees that still stand in the garden today are nearly a century old and remain quiet witnesses to that story. Today, Mehmet's grandchildren continue that story by welcoming guests into the very same garden.
When we created Portakal Suites, our goal was never simply to create a place to stay. We wanted to share Datça as we know and love it, and create a place where our guests could truly feel at home.
This guide is an extension of that idea.
Over the years, we've brought together the bays, places to eat, walking routes and the little things that make everyday life in Datça special. We hope this guide helps you discover the peninsula through our eyes.
